About John McKenzie

John McKenzie is a highly experienced photographer with a loyal clientele, combining an eye for an arresting image with an in-depth knowledge of print production, colour management and graphic design.

John began his career in '79 on archaeological digs as a photographer and draughtsman. After a period studying photography at Napier College he moved to New Zealand where he spent 6 years working in the print trade, learning colour management and print production skills that have proved invaluable. On his return to the UK John has worked exclusively as a photographer and has built up a considerable client list including Christie's, Lyon & Turnbull, Bonhams, The National Galleries of Scotland, The Fine Art Society, Standard Life, and Vogue, and has seen work published in a huge array of national and international titles.

John can provide an end-to-end service, generating creative and evocative images for clients who may not posses a huge design team or commissioning editor. Equally, John's ability to collaborate and follow directions to realize his clients’ vision enables him to handle projects for clients of any size.

Aesthetically, John enjoys 'reducing complexity to its simplest elements' via innovative lighting and composition. John delivers a quality product, bringing a fresh eye and dedicated, person-centred service to your brief, be it traditional or cutting edge in style.
